Remember a few weeks ago when I mentioned that it had become much easier to be Facebook Verified? (In case you missed it…)
And perhaps you heard that Facebook was experimenting with live video streaming, but it was only available to celebrities. Well as of yesterday, live video streaming is now available to all Verified Pages!
Here’s how it works:
To share live video, go to your Page on Facebook for iOS and tap Publish. Select Live Video and write a quick description before going live. During your broadcast, you’ll see the number of viewers, the names of other verified people or Pages who are tuning in, and a real-time stream of comments. When you end your broadcast, it will be published on your Timeline so that fans who missed it can watch the video at a later time, although you have the option to remove it just like any other post.
This could be a huge breakthrough for agents who had some interest in my live video streaming ideas for open houses using Periscope, but didn’t find it feasible since their target market didn’t regularly use the Periscope app. To reiterate, live video streaming can be an awesome way to show homes to potential buyers with busy schedules or ones that live out of town. And since the huge majority of your target market uses Facebook daily, live video streaming becomes a much more powerful strategy! Plus, if users click the Subscribe button while you’re streaming, they’ll be notified the next time you stream.
Because of these developments, we at Back At You Media highly suggest that you get your Facebook Page Verified, and then experiment with live streaming. When you decide you want to try it out, check out these best practices from Facebook to maximize the impact of your stream. If you give it a try, let us know how it went for you! Maybe we’ll live stream from the office someday soon!
