Sometimes Facebook makes changes that leave us scratching our heads and sometimes they make changes that make us want to stand up and applaud. This update is one of the latter.

NO MORE AUTO-POSTING TO PERSONAL PROFILES

As of August 1st, Facebook has blocked the ability for third party services to post to personal Facebook profiles. From giants like Hootsuite to smaller niche marketing companies, the ability to use software to post content to personal pages is now gone.

WHAT IT MEANS

If you’ve been using a company that focused its efforts on posting to personal Facebook profiles, you’re probably already aware of this change and in the process of figuring out where to go from here. The good news is that it’s never too late to switch your focus to a Business Page on Facebook, and we want to help!

WHAT IT MEANS…IF YOU’RE WITH US

If you’re with Back At You Media, you’re completely in the clear. We actually never posted content to personal Facebook profiles for two reasons: 1. It’s not a good experience for your Facebook friends and 2. We knew it was frowned upon by Facebook and assumed they’d make a change like this at some point.

Your Facebook friends initially connected with you because they wanted to keep up with your personal life, not because they wanted to be spammed by all sorts of real estate content. A professional update every now and then? No problem! But we knew a daily spamming was only going to result in Facebook friends un-friending or muting you. Instead, we required our clients to use Facebook Business Pages where followers were proactively confirming that they wanted to get real estate updates on a consistent basis!
